AGORA
18 – 20 MARCH 2020
ARE YOU READY?
The Happiness Agora is on its way back to Basel for 202, and we are so excited to share this space with you.
New locations, exciting speakers, dynamic workshops, thought-provoking topics, live music and a lot of good vibes.
What’s not to love?
Here’s a little taster from last year’s event to get you warmed up:
ABOUT THE AGORA
Agora
/ˈaɡərə/ (language of origin: greek)
The literal meaning of the word is “gathering place” or “assembly.” The Greek agora was a central public space in ancient city-states. It served as the centre for social, athletic, artistic, civic and spiritual life in the city.
In 2019 we had an amazing time sharing space with over 100 amazing participants and 15 super facilitators over three days.
The second annual Basel Happiness Agora will take place in March to coincide with the International Day of Happiness on 20 March. Basel will join 50+ hubs around the world to focus on local community building, personal development, growth and wellbeing. The vision for our local Basel Hub is to bring our community closer together to explore and experience in a space for learning and deep connection.
BASEL SCHEDULE
20 March 2019
Mind + Body +
Senses
Happiness originates within ourselves, and this is where we begin our exploration. Conscious living involves increasing our awareness and bringing our whole selves to the present moment. This requires authenticity, vulnerability, trust and curiosity, which can be cultivated and expanded in a variety of ways.

Work + Vision +
Community
We spend a considerable amount of time at work and in our local communities. The people and spaces we surround ourselves with have a huge influence on our well-being and happiness, and vice-versa. Conscious involvement and belonging have the power to cultivate a strong sense of belonging.
22 March 2019
Happiness for
Global Connection
Solving the grand global challenges demands for us to elevate our consciousness and awareness, both at the individual and collective levels. How do we bring ourselves fully as individuals, communities, cities and nations to co-create a spirit of happiness around the globe? Come explore with us to connect the dots.

What is Jumping® Fitness?
Jumping Fitness Sign-Up

Jumping Fitness is a dynamic fitness training on specially designed trampolines. For the training you use traditional aerobic steps, which are more gentle on the joints due to the resilient surface than when you perform them on firm ground.
The sense of balance and body-coordination are significantly improved by Jumping Fitness. When playing with gravity more than 400 muscles are flexed and relaxed, more than in other endurance sports.
Through regular Jumping Fitness the positive results can be seen and felt in a short time. You burn three times as many calories as when jogging, but despite the energetic training, the joints are spared.

In order to offer a new awakening Psychotherapy, a therapist must go through her/his own transformation first. Unless she/he is wide awake and working from that place, the real shift from Person to Presence in the client cannot happen. The core of this work is to recognize that beyond the suffering lays the pure Being, the source or inner core which is always whole.
In this talk and question-and-answer evening Evelyne will speak about her Spiritual Psychotherapy approach and how she applies it. There is also space for people to ask questions about treatments, inputs about certain symptoms, spiritual advice, etc.
The whole evening will be held in a space of pure awareness so everyone can drop into pure Being beyond words and understanding. In that way it will be a talk but also a meditation.
About Evelyne:
Evelyne Vuilleumier is a licenced Psychologist, certified Psychotherapist (Gestalt therapy), Sophrologist as well as a Yoga (RYT 500) and Meditation teacher. Since many years she follows a deep spiritual path and shares from what has been realized on that path. In her Spiritual Psychotherapy she brings these realizations together with psychotherapeutical work.
She also co-facilitates the Deepr events in Basel, which are consciousness building trans-disciplinary events with art, dance, communication and meditation.

This is our space to welcome you and introduce the Basel Happiness Agora! Come learn about the vision, mingle, meet some of your facilitators for the coming days and join the growing community here in Basel.
What is the inspiration behind creating the Basel Happiness Agora?
I first learned about the Global Virtual Happiness Agora through its founder Luis Gallardo. Luis has created a number of amazing happiness events over the past years. When I learned of the virtual agora, I knew I wanted to be involved in bringing this to Basel. I had the pleasure to travel together with Luis through Bhutan and dive deeper into the vision for the agora, and here we are today!

What happened in our history that we lost the value of the vegetation surrounding us? When did we get so disconnected from the knowledge of our herbs and their various applications? The polarisation of medicinal practice into old witchcraft and the pharmaceutical industry has left us without any basic knowledge of how to remedy ourselves.
Our industries of food, medicine and botany are highly specialized but are totally separated from one another. Our understanding of where things originate and how they are produced is vanishing. Nina has a vision to bring awareness of the holistic approach that we could have towards plants as the origins of colour.
How can this modern alchemistic process take place? how could it become ritual, sensual and common in our lives? Explore together how we can revive the vanishing natural colours in our society.
About Nina:
Nina is a swiss product designer and herbal colorist based in Basel, Switzerland. She runs her own studio after graduating Cum Laude from Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands and works internationally as a freelancer.
Her fascination for color, plants and natural materials became the key role in her projects, ranging from material research and products, culinary experiences with plant concept dinners to color based art installations. Profound research and material exploration are the base of her projects. Working with a holistic design approach she explores subjects and researches substances in order to create values for the human well being.

Applied Spirituality for Bulls**t Free Living is about breaking down spiritual concepts from airy-fairy into everyday-life application. It’s a toolbox – straightforward and without detours. Seven fresh perspectives support us to become more of who we essentially are:
– Reconnecting with intuition as our internal compass.
– Radical honesty with oneself and others.
– Communicating non-violently and without compromise.
– Exploring the Monkey-Mind and its ways.
– Learning from others and mirroring back our own conditioning.
– Being in the present moment.
– Shifting our viewpoint from head to heart.
This workshop creates a space to explore through direct experience and reconnect to natural freedom and happiness within.
About Mathias:
Mathias is a coach, a creative and sometimes a troublemaker. He’s also an advocate for Bullshit-Free Living and feels drawn to understanding complexities and transforming them to clarity.
Ever since he first watched Star Trek, he wanted to find the truth »out there«. He didn’t realise then that the truth was actually inside. The toughest and also most rewarding paradox he’s encountered is spiritual awakening.
In his coaching work, his specialty is cutting through the bullshit and digging up the root of the problem. He’s all in for truth. Everything else is history.
